This section offers instructions, help pages and FAQ related to activating and uploading to your Tiscali webspace.

If you are having problems viewing your website please ensure you have:

1.  Activated your Webspace.

2.  Connected to the Internet using Tiscali, if this is not the case you may receive Error 530/331.

Webspace address

The website name you chose when you activated your webspace which will be in one of the following formats depending on your email address:

Tinyworld           http://users.tinyworld.co.uk/website
Tinyonline          http://users.tinyonline.co.uk/website

Having problems uploading files?
If you are still facing problems uploading please check:

1.  You are not trying to upload through a firewall. If so, and the firewall is on your own PC, configure it to allow the upload. If the firewall is on a networked machine, contact your systems administrator.  

2.  If this does not resolve the problem, a basic connection to the webspace can be enabled using the DOS prompt as follows:
3.  Make sure that your webspace is activated. Click on activate your webspace  if you have not activated it until now.
4.  Check whether you are using the correct FTP username and password.


If you are still unable to connect then in order to check the connectivity with our FTP servers click on the Start button of your PC and then select Run
a)  Type in ftp ftp.myweb.tiscali.co.uk. Click OK.
You should see a screen similar to this image       
b)  At the prompt type in your username and click Enter


c)  You will then be prompted for your password after which you must click Enter again.

If you get a successful login here this indicates that the problem areas could be:

1.  The FTP client has been configured incorrectly. If you are using WSFTP as an FTP client, then you can configure  it again.
2.  The firewall on your PC could be blocking the FTP port. You may wish to disable your firewall temporarily and then check theconnectivity.
3.  For information on the Windows XP firewall click here.
4.  If it still doesn’t resolve the issue, then contact your computer vendor as it could then be an issue with the firewall or the FTPclient on your PC. This software could be uninstalled and reinstalled by the vendor to resolve the issue for you.
If your login fails and you have logged in previously this indicates the username and password may have been enteredincorrectly. However, if it fails with any error code then check the information below:

Common FTP error codes & resolutions

    Error 403 - you are forbidden to view this page
    Error 404 - this page cannot be displayed  
    
Error 404 on a Tiscali page  
    
Error 421 - Server error  
    
Error 503 - Temporarily unavailable  
    
Error 530 - Invalid username or password
